Survival of one species might depend on another
Symbiosis
- Individuals of two species may have a close relationship called symbiosis. There are 3 kinds.
Mutualism
- Mutualism occurs when both species in the symbiosis benefit from the interaction.
Commensalism
- Commensalism occurs if one species benefits while the other is unharmed and unaffected.
Parasitism
- Parasitism occurs when one species is harmed while the other benefits.
Symbiosis
- The table shows how the three symbiotic relationships can be beneficial (+), neutral (0), or harmful (-).
