Species
- Organisms are members of the same species if they are similar to each other and produce offspring that can breed.
Population
- Members of the same species who live in a particular habitat constitute a population.
Habitat
- The habitat provides everything the population needs to survive.
Niche
- Organisms perform certain roles, called niches, in the habitat.
- For instance, grasses on a prairie anchor the topsoil and provide food for grazing animals.
Community
- Populations that live together and interact form a community.
